indoor plant guide | improve your home & wellbeing
Not only do plants and flowers look great in our homes, they can also make us feel better, too. This is especially welcome at the moment with everyone's wellbeing needing a boost. Our lovely partners, Ferm Living have created an indoor plant guide to give us all a little inspiration. Their Plant Boxes are a great way to bring plants into your home (and they're also suitable for outdoors too).
Find plant combinations that work well with each other but will also thrive in space they will live in, whether that's a bright windowsill, humid bathroom or shaded living room. With the right amount of love and care, you will be rewarded with beautiful colours, scents and in some cases, edible treats.
Growing vegetables isn’t just for those with large outdoor spaces! Many varieties can be easily grown in a pot or light-filled kitchen. You could try a mixture of berries, curly kale as well as deliciously fragrant herbs like oregano and rosemary. Plant them as seeds, or purchase them as small plants at the garden centre so that you can start enjoying them straight away.
Why not try....Ferm Living's Plant Box Two-Tier. You have space on top to plant your selection of edible greenery and an extra area below to store your planting tools or kitchen utensils.
With more outdoor walks in the woods over the last year, you may have collected a bouquet of wildflowers to bring home, only for them to quickly turn limp and withered. Why not grow them yourself from the comfort of your own home? A great alternative to turning your garden into a meadow is to plant them indoors.
Why not try.....Ferm Living's Plant Box Large. With its low and deep dimensions, this Plant Box has ample room for wildflowers to put roots down, and will bring the wonderful, free feeling of the forest into your home.
Almost impossible to kill and easy to love – succulents are the ultimate go-to plants if you aren't that green-fingered. These plants thrive in the desert, so make sure that they receive plenty of natural light and minimal moisture. Cacti grow during the summer months, during which they like to be watered weekly. They then go into a rest period during the winter, and you can reduce the watering significantly to once every other month. Make sure to keep cacti away from little fingers and paws, as their spikes are difficult and painful to remove.
Why not try....Ferm Living's original Plant Box which has ample room for your favourite cacti.
With minimal care required, the Asparagus Fern is a low-maintenance plant that thrives in both natural light and the darker corners of your home. It likes to be watered, but if you happen to forget, it can easily handle a dry period. Do be aware that, contrary to its name, the Asparagus Fern isn’t an edible plant, and can even be toxic for cats and dogs to ingest – so make sure to keep your furry friends from snacking on any low-hanging leaves.
Why not try....Ferm Living's Plant Box Round. The organic shape of this planters complements the wildness of the lovely Asparagus Fern.
